Holiday blues

Holidays are great.

You plan for them for months, count the days til you can leave and then once your there time flies. You reach the end of your holiday not wanting to go back.

Now that I'm back and my sun tan is peeling I feel massively deflated. My lovely sunkissed skin is coming off like the scene in Death becomes here. I feel I might need to wear a full body suit to keep my skin intact.

The other option is to have a massive scrub and sun bed to fill in the patches.

I feel like I've lost my holiday glow and I want it back!!!

Unlike mu usually bubbly posts this has become a bit of a rant and a wallowing in self pity and that's okay.

Struggling to breathe

Work is becoming increasingly tough.

The hours are becoming unbearable. The inability to finish a task without something more important popping up is frustrating to say the least and having someone stay home sick without letting the rest of the team know is just beyond words.

Having the fire alarm go off an hour after my shift finished was the last straw that urged me to get up from seat and just walk off.

Sure I've left the office but deep down I know I'll just end up waking early to get in the office before the rest of the team to tidy up lose ends.

To add insult to injury the train is being held at every platform to regulate the service.

It's been a long day and I feel rather deflated I'm hoping a good cup of tea with my feet up will help the situation.

Night with the girls

Today we've managed to plan something that happens once in a blue moon.

Girls night!!

Ever since we finished uni we've all be super busy, super tired and trying to keep up with our hectic lives.

We all took different paths. One graduated to be a teacher, surrounded bt kids and is now married with a loving husband and a beautiful baby boy whose only a few months old.
One is following the biochemistry route. Running around the hospital always on her feet but fully satisfied that her patients are being treated for cancer.
Then there's me graduating to be in the quick paced fashion industry starting from the bottom with the desk job spotting trends, analysis figures and smashing targets in the hopes of rising the ranks to rub my own department within the multi million company in the center of London West end.

We all work hard and struggle to find the work life balance so when we manage to have a day to ourselves when we can all make it. It's once in a blue moon.todays plan meet up,  go out for a nice meal. Catching up in all the gossip you can't share by text or over the phone. Then of course there will be desert. We're thinking milkshakes and waffles. Can't wait

To a night with friend...

Sticking to it

I've made the effort and here I am again.

Today's has been absolutely manic. Being the holiday season everyone is taking their time off. It might be a few days here and there. A long weekend or in this case a whole week.

The office is manic enough as it is without having the team a man down.

Today I've had to do my work and someone else's.  Which also means I'm working underfloor 2 managers who both on ocassion pulled rank over one another. It was like a kid being stuck between divorced parents both arguing that their task is more important than the others.

Hopefully tomorrow we can find a balance of sorts and get thins organised, and running smoothly. It looks like I'll need an early start to get on top of the emails stacking up in my inbox and maybe even get a few reports ran before the rest of the team turn up with demands.

Struggling with Blogging

This has been alot harder than expected.

Cannot seem to keep up with Blogging at all. It seemsnto be a lot harder now that I'm constantly out and about. The only time I seem to find the time is when I'm on the train - where this blog is being written right now.

It's strange how something as simple as taking 5 minutes to sit and write about your day has become such a task. An unachievable task it may seem.

When you stop am think and about it. 5 minutes to stop and reflect shouldn't be so hard. So I guess I will pull my finger out and make sure I make the time.

Tube strike....

For those of you living in London I'm sure you're all feeling the same horrid pit in your stomachs.

Tube strike.

The first nation wide tube strike was only a few weeks ago and the wounds left behind from torment are still fresh and raw.  Its starting to feel like de ja vu.

Hopefully you can all make it home okay, for all of you out there stuck getting a bus, a taxi or walking.....

Back in Business

Yes I've been gone a while. And yes I've been crap at keeping this up.
But it's time to stick to something and follow through.

Surprising once again I start my blog with I've found a new job. This is my 3rd since I've started this blog. I guess I can't seem to commit. Maybe I'm just bored too easily and can't stay in one place for too long who knows. Either way I've found myself getting used to new people, a new team and a new train journey.

This new job is nice. Took me a while to get used to it. I felt like the odd one out for ages. I didn't talk to many people, didn't have the same humour as others, and I'm still struggling to find common interests.

I've always been out of place but here I felt like it was magnified. Like in had managed to smuggle myself into the cool kids circle undetected. Just waiting for the day I would be discovered for the dorky nerd I've always been.

So far I've gone a year undetected co-cohabiting within the pack.

In other news I've found someone I feel connected to and plan to spend the rest of my life with. Plans for the wedding have started and were both saving up for the house.

Its all been a bit of a whirlwind. All very unexpected but I'm happy to have found someone who understands me. Who has common interests. The same childhood and a strong family bond. We both want the same things. We work hard, support our families and one day want to start our own. We bring out the best in each other and have become better people.

So right now life is pretty hectic but in a good way. There are soon many things to plan so many things to save for, so many new people to meet and our day to day lives are fitting around it some how.

This weeks plan. To blog once a day.

Whether its the stresses of work. A song that's stuck in my head. A new restaurant I've gone to. Or just a funny pic from the days adventure I will blog it up for you to see.

New Years Resolution

Already having doubts about the new years resolution.

Feeling like I've taken on more that I can manage. This new years resolution is already making me anxious. Tomorrow is the big new years eve blow out!!

Most people have a massive feast for Christmas, my family always do it for new years. I guess its become a bit of a tradition with lots of food, snack, drinks and games and fun.

If I'm planning to do a health kick this year as my resolution. I guess it makes sense to have a massive blow out and eat all I can manage, but it's pulling the reigns back in that I'm worried about.

Everything is in place now, all the decorations are prepped, the food is in the fridge and we even managed to buy a bingo set. Lots of family fun just waiting to happen.

Hopefully I can keep to my resolution.
Until then,

Christmas Gifts

Gifting is the best bit of the Christmas holidays for me.

I've never been the kind of person who likes the superficial presents that cost alot, the kind that you quickly walk into a shop and buy.The thoughtful presents are always the ones at the top of my list. I don't if they are small, cheap or hand made, as long as I know someone clearly took took the time to pick something that means something to you and fits your personality.

Seeing that someone has listened to a fleeting conversation you had, took note of something you've always wanted, or getting you something that reminds them of you means the world more to me than an quick over the counter generic present.

This year I've put some thought into the things I wanted to buy everyone and hope that everyone will like them.

I've newly discovered the shop Tiger and I can't believe its taken me this long to come across them and have the nerve to walk in,

I absolutely adore all the little trinkets they have to offer, their random selections of things, that somehow seem to fit perfectly together to make the store the incredible place it is. Being my first visit I was in absolute awe and the little cogs in my head were turning full blast and I was on the hunt for the perfect present for my mum.

Me and my mum are complete opposites so I've always found it quite hard to shop for her. One example is our taste in jewelry.

I like my jewelry to be old, slightly vintages and my mum loves them to be sparkly silver, Swarovski diamonds and all glitter. Walking round Tiger I found her the perfect set.

I found her a diamond studded Smart pen for her phone, a diamond studded calculator for the office at work and a matching picture frame she can fill and keep at her bedside table. Alongside that got her a cute slogan bar of chocolate.

Overall I think I think it did quite well.
I can't wait to see the look on her face.

I'm still trying to put together dads gag gift, I've got a few bits and bobs an now I'm just looking for the perfect piece to bring them all together.

Luckily this year were doing presents on new year instead so I still have a few days to go, and who knows I might even nab myself a bargain in the post Xmas sales.

Xmas Shopping

Not long to go...

I's almost Christmas.

Everyone is out and about doing last minute shopping for gift and a bargain.

It's planned to be the busiest day with almost £2 million being spent a second on shopping.

I dreaded the thought of being out on the high street or even attempting to get anywhere near the West End. Instead today decided to stay a bit more local.

I managed to find all the things I needed. So all in all a good day out.

Being a bit of a bargain hunter I headed to TK Maxx and updated my Sportswear in preparation for Jan. I've got new sport socks a new Sport Bra, structured leggings that aid slimming and a few breath easy vests. Having my sports gear prepped is definitely helping me feel a bit more pumped and psyched up for a month of Gyming.
I'm hoping that I can keep to my New Years Resolution and I can manage whole year at the gym and feel a lot more healthy and toned.

Next on my shopping list was baby clothes.

My best friend is pregnant with her first baby, we've found out it's a boy and I've been knitting a blanket ever since I found out. (oh yeah forgot to tell you in my previous posts....I knit). I've almost finished the baby blanket but I wanted to get her an outfit to go with it and today I found such a cute baby grow, with an all-in-one with matching footsies and a baby beanie too.

I'm well chuffed with my finds and I can't wait to meet my cute little nephew. She's due in Feb so not long to go now....

Manic Monday

You all know exactly what I mean by Manic Monday.                                                                             We've all been there, hitting snooze on the alarms trying desperately to stop Monday from happening, squeezing your eyes shut hoping that if you're still asleep then its technically still Sunday night.
Then having it ripped away by the blaring alarm telling you its Monday bitch get out of bed!!
Well today was just that, another Manic Monday. Today I didn't want to wake up and go to work, just wanted to lie in my lovely clean sheets that smell like sunshine and roses and felt like a warm hug. I didn't want to go out in the cold because let's face it,

Winter is coming.

Okay I couldn't resist myself. So yeah didn't want to get out bed, after spending the whole weekend organizing my wardrobe, tidying my room, doing 5 loads of washing, tumble drying and folding them I was knackered and just wanted day of sleep.

But there's no rest for the wicked, so off to work I went.

On other news, I've signed up to the gym and my membership starts 1st Jan.

And the countdown begins....

16 days until I'm officially a gym bunny.

I'M BACK!!!

It's been a long time since I was last here, but I'm back and here to stay.

Let's just say a lot has happened since I've been gone.
Here's a quick synopsis:

Changed my job,
Had two holidays abroad,
Massively addicted to Instagram,
Single...once again,
Prepping to become a gym bunny(new years resolution and all)
Christmas presents bought,
Looking forward to a new year and a fresh start,

Reading my synopsis my year is looking pretty dull and I'm probably not doing it justice. But I'm sure at some point once I get settled back into blogging, there will be a few throwbacks and pics from my adventures.

In the meantime, you can always follow my Instagram @Sarah_with_a_Z to catch up on a few pics and quotes I've got up.

Well I guess there's nothing more than to say I'm back and watch this space.

Health kick part 2

I've made a recent discovery. On one of my searches for new healthy foods I might enjoy. I made my food discovery, Aloe vera juice.

I absolutely adore Aloe vera juice. At a sandwich bar during lunch I wanted something to drink, and since I'm trying to cut out sugary fizzy drinks I thought I'd get the healthiest thing on the menu and there is was...Aloe vera juice.

It's a strange kind of drink with bits of Aloe Vera in it too but it's naturally sweet and refreshing. Something I would definately recommend you try. I've read about it and it has lots of vitamins and is good for your immune system, great for detoxing and helping repair and protect your body.

I've also started cutting down my coffee intake too. This week I had 3, which is good considering I would drink that many in a day.

Instead of coffee I've started drinking tea no sugar, which I'm hoping to trade in for green tea at some point.

So far my substitutes seem to be working. Instead of fizzy drinks I'm having Aloe Vera and instead of coffee I'm drinking tea.

Hopefully having substitutes instead of cutting them out will help me to stick to it. Sure tea doesn't quite hit rhe spot like coffee does and I don't get that buzz but tea is something to keep me busy. Wish me luck.

Soo much drama #Roadtrip

OToday started off rather eventless.

The weather looked good so spent my afternoon in the garden enjoying the sunshine.

Thr evening however was a completely different story.

It all started with a phone call. The guys decided they wanted to go golfing. The boys were on their bikes and we were leading the way in the car with our sat nav on. We get to a red light and my brother on his bike decides to empty his pockets of his phone and wallet so he doesnt drop them from his jean pocket.

We're at a motorway now. One of the guys on his bike for some reason to overtake us, my brother follows and we hit a fork in the road. There are 3 exits and each of us are on different lane. We flash the guys to get im the same lane as us. One of them sees us but my brother panics and thinks someone behind him is flashing him since he's driving slowly. He hits the gas and we all watch him going down the wrong exit on the motorway.

We freak out and keep driving until we find a hard shoulder and stop to regroup.y brother hasn't been on the motors before on his bike and we realise he has no sat nav no phone and he doesn't know his way to golf.

After doubling back to find him we decide maybe he saw the exit to head back home and hes gone that way. At this point there are so many different turn ins he could have taken and we're all keeping our eye peeled incase we drive past him.

It's dark now and about and hours goes by before I get a call from an unknown number. Turns out he's found his way to Golf and he's waiting for us. At this point we're 10minutes fron our house and he's an hour away in the other direction.

We turn back to get him in case he can't find his way back in his own and he had no phone to call for help if he did get lost again.

All in all soo much drama and panic. We didn't make it to golf in time and all we did was drive around for 3 hours going backwards and forwards. What was meant to be a meal and golf ended up being a mini road trip and lots of drama.

Health kick

New job new start and all that has led me to try something new. So now I'm having a bit of a health kick.

My new office is located on the 5th floor. I've decided to try and walk up the 5 flights of stairs unless I'm running late.

It's not too bad, so far in a day I go up and down them 4 times in a day. I've also decided to use the ladies loos on the 3rd room to add a few more floors climbed to my day.

Next step would be to cut down on the junk food....which wont be easy but I'll give it a go. I'm making sure that I don't skip breakfast, which is an improvement and next step is to increase my water intake.

Will try and keep you updated on my progress. Wish me luck.

Girly Pamper day

Tonight was pretty good. I had my cousin come round and did a whole bunch of girly things. We braided hair, did nails and listened did a bit of dress up.

Having years in retail means I have lots of clothes to spare. The clothes rail in my room is buckling under the weight of all my outfits and the chest of drawers won't close anymore.

Luckily my cousin is the same size as me so we had a bit of dress up, tried on some dresses and tops. All the clothes I had literally only worn once and some still had tags on. Ever since I started working in fashion based retail I've had a problem with impulse buying. On the way home I would stop by at the shopping centres as I went through central and struggled to leave my favourite store empty handed.

Having someone who fits in my clothes and doesn't mind wearing my outfits is kind of a blessing in disguise.

Now that I've established my style and im happy with my wardrobe I'm hoping my spending on clothes will drop off and I wont need to recycle and hand-me-down my clothes as often. There's that but then again I really enjoy having girly days like this.

Tonight was unplanned and I'm glad it happened.

Katy Perry - Prismatic Tour

So today is the day I get to see Katy Perry.

The supporting act was great. Icona Pop from Sweden got the crowd going with thier mix of techno upbeat pop songs.

The bass was pumping and the crowd lit up when they started played their iconic song 'Ready for the weekend'. Everyone started singing along and the O2 was alive.

They ended their session with their number one hit 'I Don't Care'. For a supporting act they were amazing and got the croud going and completely ready for Katy Perry.

When Katy Perry walked into the stage everyone went crazy. It was upbeat and stayed that way for ages. The costume changes cames quick and fast. Each with a theme, there was the Egyptian pyramids for 'Dark Horse' the sunflowers and butterflies for 'unconditionally' and a neon Hollywood sign for 'International Smile'.

There were surprises around every corner and the Tour ended on a high. The finale was 'Fireworks'. Sparks from the fireworks sprayed the stage. Balloons and ck fetti fell from the sky and everyone left still buzzing from the show.

I had a great time and the light shows were amazing. Reminding me of the show previously put on by the Australian Pink Floyd tribute band earlier this year.

The lights were amazing the stage changes kept us on our toes and was a great Tour. Katy Perry out did herself and I can't wait to hear her up and coming albums and to continue following her.

New job. New start

It's been a while since my last post.

Lots has happened.

Right now I'm transitioning between jobs. I'm still in the fashion industry and finally made the transition from boyswear to menswear.

I've just finished my first week and it's still a bit scary. I'm hoping that I can quickly adapt to the new system and get started on my progression. The target is to get a promotion by the end of the year.

Hopefully with a bit of hard work and graft I'm gonna hit my target and move up in the world.
