Topshop has finally pulled me in

I've always told myself topshop is stupid, thats its over priced and just too out there for me to actually buy anything from it.

Well I finally caved and bought a few things from there. I have to admit I didn't get any clothes from there. Just jewellery. I liked the look and the way it looked worn out, plus I wanted a nice statement jewelry piece for a few dresses and tops i have. Recently i've been more interested in simple tops and using jewellery and accesories to bring them to life and make it an outfit,
I've found my perfect silver necklace with crystals and spikes and now I have my rustic gold neclace with spikes.

Clothes and fashion has become a massive part of me on my journey. I guess its been my way of trying to distract myself and keep myself entertained. By caring about what I wear and how I put my outfit together and the style im coming across as having stops me from thinking about other things.

So in the end I have succumb to topshop and have started to rather enjoy my shopping trips there to the point that I'm not just browsing, but actually buying things now.

My first collection

Since my inspiration hit me all I can think about is dresses, all the different shapes, different cuts, different colours and styles.

I've gone out and topped up my art supplies. I went to the local stationary shop and topped up my arts supplies and picked up a few colouring pencils, some felt tip pens and another sketch pad. Luckily I still have lots of great quality sketching pencils, charcoal and pastels from my old art classes.

It's not exactly an amazing AW12 collection to be proud of but its a start.

The drawings are not exactly finished, I'm still undecided as to what colour the long elegant dress will be...I'm stuck between having the dress a deep purple or a navy.

Inspired

Every day on the way to work I'm bombarded with a collection of free newspapers and magazines at the train station.

The weekly glossies are the ones that grab my attention much more than the dull black and white newspapers. Today's glossy, was Stylist.

It's a great fashion magazine thats been keeping me updated on the latest trends in the fashion world as well as a nice overview of whats going on around the world. There are great pieces that are well written and worth reading. Today's copy was the A/W 12 Fashion edition. I'm not going to lie, normally I only do a quick scan and check out the pictures not really stopping focusing read any of the articles. But today I decided I might as well have a read and was pleasantly surprised and inspired.

One of the trends that has been predominant this season is Gothic. I've always liked velvets and lace, blood reds and deep purples. There's something strangely elegant about it all. When I think gothic I think roses and it inspired me to try my hand at designing evening dresses that I would love to one day create, since right now lace is easy to come by and in regular supply in all different styles and variations it the best time to take advantage of it all.

Luckily an interest in clothes it runs in my family. My grandmother is a seamstress and so is my mother so I've got majority of the tools and a little bit of the skills to create an outfit. It would take me alot of planning to get the cut and the shape just right but if I work hard I think I should be to tailor a dress.

So now I've found myself an interest and maybe even a hobby, hopefully I will stick to it and maybe even make something of it.

A little break from work

Tired doesn't begin to explain how I feel right now....

This week at work has been absolutely manic. Lately work is really getting on top of me and I can't seem to get meet deadlines. So I've decided to giveit one hundred percent and be completely on my game and hope this will be the push me and the team need to get us on track and have work run and maybe even leave work on time.

Everything has to be done to deadlines and lately I seem to be falling behind further and further behind just chasing my tail, with my to do list growing longer and everytime I tick something else get added...

The only thing keeping me going is that tomorrow I get to have my little break from it all and go to Vogue's Fashion Night Out.

The whole of Oxford street will be a buzz with fashion being in the forefront with all the focus being on the new collections and designers making a guest appearances in the shops. I've never been, but reading all the great stories about previous years make is making me so excited...Tomorrow I'm putting on my most comfortable shoes, armed with my camera and a card.

First day

Today was my first official day at work....Yesterday was my induction day and I was shown around the building and I'm still in awe about it all...

The office is filled with clothes and where I work they do all their design and production ihe head office I'm working in so while I'm sitting at my desk I can look up and watch the designers cutting out the material and putting them on dummies and waiting for them to get apporoved and sent out to mass prouction.

The entire office is open plan so its desk after desk of shoes and jeans and jewellery.

You can see the web designer team putting the final touches on the clothes, designers pinning dresses together, the buyers throwing around samples of material they like and calling up suppliers to complain the labels are wrong...and then you have me, sitting at my desk looking at all the numbers....look at how many we sold, how many we ordered and how will actually turn up (you'd b amazed at how you order 300 and when the delivery comes they only give you 200)

Anyway, I finally have my own desk, the person above me has given me all this work to do because before I came she had to do it all herself and theres a bit of a backlog in the administrative parts....Long story short this is what my desk corrently looks like  ------>

Okay I may be exxagerating a little bit...but there is atleast 8 ring binders packed withe every of boyswear they are selling this season and since now is sales time all the prices have to be manually changed in the ledgers, base and the spreadsheets, which is my job for the day.

Overall I'm doing okay....I did have the awkward moment in the canteen where I was stood there with my tray off food looking around for someone to recognise and I must admit I felt like the geeky kid on their first day at school. I eventually found the person I was with who had went off to find us a seat. I like the job I just dread the commmute
