Window shopping

The west end is an amazing to go. It's one of my favourite places to go, I go there so often and yet I've barely scratched the surface. Every time I go there I find somewhere new. Whether it's a new place to eat, a new coffee shop where I can stop and rest my feet, or a new shop that seems perfect for me.

I don't always go there to shop, sometimes I like to go there just to window shop and tomorrow I plan to do just that. Whether I go there with friends or by myself I know I'm going to have a nice day out getting lost in the westend.

Tomorrow I plan to go see the window display at Harrods. This year they have gone all Disney fairytale princess. Harrods has got world renowned designers to recreate the Disney princess dresses. I've seen a few articles on the display and I cant wait to go there are see it myself.

I just might take my camera along with me and take a few pictures.

Special delivery

I have to admit I'm a little bit of a shopaholic. No matter what reason I get on the laptop for or what site I'm on I always manage to find myself on a clothing site. Don't get me wring I'm not always buying things, somethimes I just like to browse. Look at the different colours, the shapes, the prices and the looks and combinations they sometimes come up with.

Today my delivery of dresses came.

Since the christmas party is coming up I thought it would be nice to turn up in something they haven't seen me in before. So I went online found a few deals and got it free delivery too.

One is a rather simple skater dress in a deep red burgundy colour, that goes great with dolly shoes a pair of boots with tights or with bare leg. Something really versatile I can dress up or down.

The other is a bit more sparkly and detailed, a one shoulder dip hem dress with ansequined bodice and chiffon skirt thats short at the front and long at the back. Perfect to go with either a pair of plain black heels or sparkly silver ones.

I've tried them on and I like them so pretty happy with my buy. Now I look forward to getting to getting the chance to wear them.

A few more sketches

I'm glad to say it's been quite a good week, work hasn't been too bad, and I got the results for the 3 month test I told you all about....

I got 90%, which is great!!

I came 2nd in the class. The people in my department have noticed that I did well and I'm doing well at my job, something I hope will be reflected in my review at the end of the year.

This week has been pretty good and I've decided to end it with a nice lazy weekend of lounging around and doing very little.

So far I've spent most of the weekend asleep and in bed watching TV. I've tidied my room a bit, and organised my clothes, so my outfits for the rest of the week have been planned. I've also done a few sketches and doodles.

As always I'm undecided on the colours that I want them to be in,right now I'm working on trying to get the right shape of the female body and the curves I want to exenuate or in some cases alter.

Here they are...I hope you enjoy them.

Busy day tomorrow

Today was my test and I feel like it went pretty well. I didn't trip up on any of the questions so fingers crossed when I get my results on friday they'll be good.

So I've got friday to look forward to but tomorrow is going to be unbearable. The CEO of the company is going to come around and look at all the departments so everyone is highly strung and rushing to get everything done in time for his arrival at 11. This is all good and well but I have to manually write out the forecasted sales of every single boyswear item that the company sells. I have soo much to do o much to do tomorrow, which means early start. I need to get to the office at half 8. It takes me an hr to get to work so I should probably get ready for bed-its only 10 oclock-I havn't got ready for bed this early since secondary school.

I really hope I can wake up on time and that the day goes by without a hitch and its not as bad as I think it will be.

Test

Tomorrow is my 3 month test at work, to see how well I'm doing and how much I've learned.

I must admit I'm a little bit nervous...nothing major just a little bit nervous because I want to do well.

I've got my notebook full of notes but I'm sure that at some point I will forget something and be annoyed with myself for the rest of the day. I've never been good at exam conditions I seem to panic and go completely blank.

Wish me luck

Girl's night out

Last night I had such a amazing night out. It was our girls night out and we'vebeen planning it for weeks and it was definately worth the wait.

We went to a nice little place in Camden, it was oorinally stables that have now been converted into bars, booths with tables and a gig venue with live music. The place was so quiant and I really liked the qwirkyness.

The venue was great and the music was nice and the drinks were decently priced. Having all the girls there was great, we danced the whole night and laughed til our sides hurt and our feet couldn't take it anymore.

The journey home was a bit of a nightmare, being very responsible we booked a cab to pick before we left the house and told it to arrive once the bar closed. The only problem was the cab service wasn't as reliable as we had hoped and they didn't turn up to pick us up so we booked another cab and had to wait an hour. So we were forced to wait out in the cold. We were not happy and left a very disgruntled message on the cab companies answer machine.

Luckily waiting in the cold for the cab didn't spoil my night and I still feel like it was amazing girls night out, and for me it was nice to get out a bit more and just have a good time.

Back to the drawing board

It's back to the drawing board. Recently my focus has been a bit more on cooking simply because I couldn't find my skecthpad. My fashion interest is still and I've been looking into it alot more.  I've found a few designers I like. My favourite so far is Alexander McQueen his style is edgy and he has soo much range in his collections, his outfits in each season vary soo much but still have the McQueen feel to it, that brings the collections together.

After a bit of research and practise I've decided I wanted to improve my drawing style and make it better. Once I looked up a few poses I've managed to draw my gowns differently in poses, which better suit the outfit and portrays it in the best light.

These outfits are a bit more long, elegant and flowing. I'm focusing more on softer curves and elegant line. My preference is exposed shoulders either with a sweatheart necklines, bustiers or asymetric off the shoulder tops. When I think of material my mind goes to royal blue silk for the dress on the right with pale blue chiffon for the long drapes. With the off the shoulder dress on the left I'm thinking silk or velvet with a possible side slit.

I feel like I can talk about the outfits in my head for hours, there are simple ones, over exaggerated couture dresses just for the runway shows.

There are a few bridal gowns that keep changing in my head. Now all that's left is to stick to it and get all my ideas onto paper and maybe even once day have come to life so I can show my ideas to everyone. For now these are the dresses that have been on my mind. The one on the left is a possible bridal dress that gives a nice silhouette and grace.

Freshly baked pizza

Me and my brother really wanted to have pizza today, but after a rummage through the fridge we realised we didn't have a pizza base so I thought I would try and do one from scratch.

I've seen how to kneed dough on The Great British Bake Off where they made bread. So I found a recipe for pizza dough on the internet and started cooking. something I didn't realise about making dough is the amount of time it takes to rest, prove etc.

The actual prep and kneeding didn't take long, it was pretty quick, the thing that took time was waiting an hour for it to double in size, then rolling it out and having to wait another 20 minutes before popping it into the oven.

Once it went in the oven it only took 10 minutes to cook and it looked really good. I went for plain toppings, just tomato, basil and cheese. Once it was done, I drizzled a bit of olive oil and top and ground some pepper. It was delicious and something I would most definately do again.

Todays pizza turned out to be a bit of a thin base, next time I want to try a thicker base and maybe even a stuffed crust.

This time was a trial and next time I try it out I'm going to make more and experiment with some different flavours. Doing food from scratch is really satisfying and gives you that little bit of pride when you know that you made something out of nothing.

Pumpkin pie

Today I made pumpkin pie.

I've had two firsts today. It's the first time I've made a pumpkin pie and it's the first time I've made a base from scratch. It was alot harder that just getting a store bought base and pouring the mix in but I like to think it was worth it.

The pumpkin pie was alright it was really different from anything I've had before. Normally I'd either have chocolate or sponge cake. This was soo different to what I'm used to. Overall it turned out quite well. The only problem is I don't know what pumpkin pie is meant to taste like so I dont know if I did it right or wrong. It tasted pretty decent thought so I guess it was a success.

Since the base only needed the yolks of egg I seperated the whites and had my second attempt at making meringues. Lets just say it's the second time I've failed at making chewy and crisp meringues, but each time I'm learning that little bit more so fingers crossed next time I attempt to make meringue that I do it perfect from start to finish and have a new thing to add to my list of baking.

Baking seems to help with things, but I've realised it only helps when I'm alone in the kitchen, when there's someone else there it stresses me out because they always mess with my plan and it throws me off and instead of helping, it makes me more stressed and agrivated. Everyday I'm learning new things about myself and the person I am. Baking only takes my mind off things when I'm alone and doing things at my own pace.
